For most of us when someone mentions Astrology to you, your first thought is perhaps the daily horoscopes you read in the paper and the knowledge you have of your own birth sign. What people are not so much aware of is that your Astrology is the blue print of your life, it is the hand book you lost on the way down!
How Astrology works is through the interpretation of your Natal Chart. Your Natal Chart is a map of the heavens at the time of your birth, therefore it is very rare for any two Charts to be alike as this information is based on the TIME, DATE and PLACE of your birth. The planets move in relationship to each other every 4 minutes, so an accurate recording of your birth time is imperative to a correct Natal Chart interpretation.
For anyone, and especially those on the spiritual path, your Natal Chart is an imperative guide and wealth of information to help you along your journey. I believe that when you truly know and accept yourself for the person that you are, then there is nothing you cannot achieve in your lifetime. Your Natal Chart gives you the insight into what makes you tick and react the way that you do to certain situations and people, and through this insight you can learn to let go of the Self and the ego attachment we have to our emotions. Your Natal Chart can also identify periods in your life when you are concentrating on particular lessons, and you can see how at these times there is always plenty of positive energy to use to learn from, just as there is negative energy there to refuse to learn from.
Through a series of articles I am going to introduce you to the different planets and the energies that surround them and how they affect you and your growth on the earth plane.
Pluto is the planet of transformation, therefore where he sits in your Chart is where you have chosen in this particular incarnation to “transform” yourself.

The planet Pluto as we know it was in Greek mythology, Hades, the ruler of the underworld, a powerful energy that dealt with the areas in life that no other soul would. Therefore, it is easy to see why this planet’s energy can, and is meant too, effect us so strongly. Pluto is the planet of transformation, therefore where he sits in your Chart is where you have chosen in this particular incarnation to “transform” yourself. The House that your Pluto can be found in shows you what you have chosen to transform, and the energy or astrological sign, that your Pluto is sitting in, is showing you how you have chosen to go about achieving this transformation.
Pluto rules the astrological sign of Scorpio, and therefore it is no surprise that those born under the sign of Scorpio can be very intense people. They feel very strongly and react accordingly, these souls are here to achieve their peace in life by transforming their very way of dealing with things on an emotional and practical level, by looking at the ways in which they naturally react to all that comes into their lives.
Where Pluto sits in your Chart is where you can expect your life to be the most intense. I often look at this energy as a wave in the ocean - you are better off to ride it and see where it takes you than try to fight against this force. As the lessons are very intense that Pluto has to teach us, there is often a lot of fear of loss of control associated with this energy.
So, it really is no surprise that your Pluto is usually sitting in an area of your birth chart that you really don’t want to change, as this energy is often related to experiences that you would rather forget than have to deal with. Because of this intensity where Pluto sits, you are usually during the first part of your life, a slave to this energy, but you are here to learn to be the Master of it! In life to become the master of any one thing, often the best way is to get to know that energy first, work with it, grow with it, and then once you are familiar with it, you can see how you can master it. Pluto may play hard but he gives respect where it is due, and is willing to work with you if you just follow his rules.
A good example of how to use this energy would be if you had your Pluto sitting in your 6th House in Gemini energy. The 6th House is the House of Health & Healing and Work & Service, so when Pluto sits here you have chosen to transform yourself in this lifetime through your work. A typical example of using this energy in the first part of your life would be to be only interested in working as a means to an end. That is, you are not working in a profession or job that inspires or completes you, you are working to make a living and to pay your bills. Therefore for you to master this energy and transform yourself, you are being encouraged to find and follow your passion in life as far as your work is concerned.
Once you have achieved this, I would expect you to find not only happiness and peace in your work place, but also your own power and abundance as you have become the Master. Now, how easy or difficult it is for you to learn these lessons is of course up to you, with the Gemini energy here, the more you refuse to focus on the learning that is necessary for you to move ahead, the harder and longer this lesson is going to take you to learn. It is so very important that you surrender to the power of Pluto, and let him present to you what you need to do and see or you will be forever the slave and never the Master.
Although the lessons may be hard and at times relentless, it is only through these experiences that we can really learn who we are and what we are capable of.
If your Pluto was in the 2nd House of Money and that which you perceive to be “yours” in this lifetime, you will be a slave to the mighty dollar and your possessions, until you can learn to make such things work for you. With this placement you may well have a great fear of both having nothing, and having everything, so your life will be about experiencing both of these ways of being until you can take the gifts and talents that you were born with and make them work for you and all that is your’s.
The lessons of Pluto are intense, like Hades the Ruler of the Underworld, they take no prisoners as all that come under this energy have no other choice but to go with it. However, that doesn’t mean that your life is to be without heart, compassion or understanding. It is through mastering such things as these that you do surrender to the energy of Pluto and transform yourself into the being that you chose to become before you were born.
It is the planet Pluto along with his brother Saturn who teach us our biggest life lessons. They are our greatest teachers and therefore should be respected as such. Although the lessons may be hard and at times relentless, it is only through these experiences that we can really learn who we are and what we are capable of. Remember life is really only as hard as you want to make it, we are not here to be unhappy, we are here to learn to be responsible for our own happiness. Once these lessons are learned your life can be laid out in front of you, as a journey for which you have the tools and skills to succeed and become all that you are destined to be.
