Healing Series: Aura-Soma Colour-Care System
In this issue of our healing series, Beryl Truong explores Aura-Soma Colour-Care SystemTM with Frances Kong, an Aura-Soma teacher and practitioner based in Singapore.
When I was asked to road test an Aura-Soma consultation, I leaped at the opportunity. At last, I thought to myself - I would be able to unravel the mystery of what these mystical coloured bottles do and what they mean. Up to now, I have only had cursory brushes with this particular modality – a stroll past a colourful stand at a holistic fair, admiring a bottle display in a consultation room or picking up a printed colour card from a deck in a New-age store. All these encounters piqued my curiosity but I had not been compelled to explore further.
To my uninitiated novice’s mind, it seemed to be a tad simplistic – how can you possibly tell anything about a person, or heal them by using only colour? Aren’t our colour choices affected by our moods and fashion sense and hence constantly changing? Isn’t a ‘reading’ based on colours we choose, going to provide superficial insights at best? I prepared to set out and be enlightened.
I met Frances Kong, a licensed Aura-Soma teacher and practioner, at her home office. Frances has been an Aura-Soma practitioner for over nine years and is also the licensed distributor for the products in Singapore. Her work area had a beautiful backlit display of dozens of dual coloured bottles, in vibrant sparkling shades of crimsons, blues, oranges, pinks, reds, yellows, violet and greens, just to name a few.
Aura-Soma is meant to be a subtle, gentle system that allows one’s soul to reveal to the owner an inner insight that may not be readily apparent.
Each bottle consisted of 2 coloured liquids – a coloured oil floating on colured water, equally dividing the bottle into two sections. Hence the name ‘Equilibrium bottles’. Frances explained that each bottle contained the energies of colours, crystals, essential oils and herbs, and was completely natural. They are made with the intention for the highest good.
Aura-Soma is meant to be a subtle, gentle system that allows one’s soul to reveal to the owner an inner insight that may not be readily apparent. It is a system that emphasizes self responsibility, self-care and self-nurturing. I was told that colour was a ‘language’ and a trained aura-soma consultant would interpret and translate my choices for me.
Firstly, I was asked to imagine myself on a desert island and to choose in order, four bottles that I would like to have with me and reflect on them. I started to intuitively choose four coloured bottles in succession, feeling mildly surprised that certain colours were attractive to me, when I had not necessarily considered them as my ‘favourite’ colours beforehand. It was then revealed to me that the sequence of the bottles held a special significance. In addition, whether a colour was on top, or below within the bottle, was also important.
The meaning of the sequence was not unlike a four card ‘spread’ that is common in angelic card readings: the first symbolizes soul purpose, the second symbolizes the gifts and challenges, the third speaks about the present, and the fourth is future-focused.
Using a combination of skilled training and intuitive counselling, Frances proceeded to ‘read’ the bottles I had chosen. I was surprised to find that the information which came through had a strong resonance for me and largely affirmed other insights I was already aware of about myself, my spiritual life purpose and personal challenges. Each colour’s significance was patiently explained to me, its placement at the top or bottom of the bottle, its sequence in the quartet, the numbering on the bottle from a numerology-like perspective and the overall interaction of all four bottles.
I discovered that the insights which unfolded with the decoding of each bottle, was gentle, probing and thought-provoking. This is no ‘fortune-telling’ system that tells you when you will meet the love of your life or whether you will change jobs soon, or how to manifest riches into your life.
Aura-Soma seeks to unlock the higher guidance of the Master within all of us.
What it will do is try to access the wisdom we all have within ourselves about our individual selves. Aura-Soma seeks to unlock the higher guidance of the Master within all of us. By choosing certain colour combinations in a certain sequence, my soul was revealing to me where I am right now, where I’m going, and what obstacles I have to overcome to get there. It was profound and beautiful at the same time. I found that a certain calming effect and clarity of mind and purpose, came with focusing on the beauty of the bottles.
The consultation concluded with Frances prompting me to choose one Equillibrium bottle to take with me and to ‘work with’ on my body and aura. Used on a daily basis, it energetically connects with the user and enhances the properties represented by the colours. As it happened, I was immediately drawn to the colours in my second bottle, which represented my challenges. However, I half sub-consciously resisted and chose another bottle which was prettier and, in retrospect, I realise now, not so threatening. I was guided very gently back to my second bottle and told that it was probably the better one for me to work with, based on the overall reading that I had received.
I left the consultation with a revised understanding and respect for Aura-Soma. There are 106 bottles to choose from, so it was far from the simplistic system I had envisaged. However, it is not complex, either. The colours ‘speak’ with a clear, gentle, non-invasive voice and provides calm inner insights which, when surfaced, can be beneficial for individual self-growth and reflection.

The Equilibrium bottles are at the heart of the Aura-Soma system. They are glittering, dual coloured combinations containing the energies of colour, plants and crystals. Each Equilibrium bottle contains an upper and lower fraction: oil resting on water. Within these two fractions may be found the essential oils and herbal extracts of the plant kingdom, in combination with the energies of crystals and gems from the mineral kingdom and the energies of colour and light. She has worked as a Human Resources executive in multinational corporations for 13 years and has been living and working in Singapore for 18 months.
