This is a discussion of alternative and holistic forms of healing and therapy as opposed to allopathy (conventional treatment). Conventional medicine is still very much a part of human reality and we are advised to seek medical help where necessary. This information is not meant to replace medical treatment.
In metaphysics, physical illnesses are seen as the symptoms of a greater imbalance that may or may not have a root cause in the physical. A holistic form of healing usually involves a technique to either help identify the root of the problem or to assist in restoring the subject's balance.
Healing can take place in many forms and there are many kinds of healing modalities such as energy healing, hands-on healing, remote healing, homeopathy, natural essences, colour therapy, sound therapy, past life therapy, spiritual counselling, etc. It is very common to find healers combining various modalities. Each modality can also have many variations or approaches.
Nevertheless, a common metaphysical theme is that only you can heal yourself. Healing modalities are useful tools and healers can assist you. Yet, they are only means to help each person find his own balance and become whole again. We are perfect beings and our cells are capable of self-restoration to their original perfect templates.
Healing can also take place as a result of resolving situational issues, conflicting beliefs or releasing fears. Healing can also occur by focusing on the positive and healthy state, as suggested by the concept of the Law of Attraction. Another common metaphysical theme is the power of forgiving. By forgiving oneself and the "perpetrator", deep healing can often take place.
