We kick off a new series of interviews with the spotlight on lightworkers - wayshowers who help others with unconditional love and remind us of our divinity.

1. How did you first come into the world of metaphysics?

While desperately trying to find a method to paper-train my puppy, I scoured the library trying to find an answer to end my days of clearing dog pee and poo. There I chanced upon a book that said it was possible to speak to animals. This book suggested using a series of visualization and meditation techniques to tune in to my pet and showed her what I wanted her to do. Amazingly it worked! Once was all it took and my days of clearing up after her mess were over. It also mentioned about healing your pet through Reiki. After realizing what the mind could do, I wanted to know if my hands could actually heal too! I went online and searched for a Reiki teacher. That did not take very long too. The end of 2002 saw me taking up Reiki level 1 and sharing the gift of hands-on healing with friends and their beloved pets.

2. Could you share with us what you do as a metaphysics practitioner?

I conduct Reiki healing sessions and classes. I also work with the angels to provide channeled readings and healings. Earlier this year, I was guided to perform past life regression sessions, which have proven very useful to the clients who were drawn to experience a session. I also enjoy facilitating workshops such as, Channeling with your Angels and Guides, How to Attract Abundance and Connecting with your Guardian Angel.

But slowly, the Universe brought more clients to me, and it was their feedback to and gratitude for the readings and healings I gave them that totally convinced me that I was on the right track.

3. Did you find it difficult to accept your gifts? How did you become comfortable with them?

I most certainly did. It was interesting in the beginning, then fear and doubt started to set in. For a long time, I doubted myself and the angels, often thinking that I must be crazy and that it was just my imagination at play. But slowly, the Universe brought more clients to me, and it was their feedback to and gratitude for the readings and healings I gave them that totally convinced me that I was on the right track. In May 2007, I placed my faith and trust in God and the Universe and made spiritual work my full-time job. I now embrace my gifts wholeheartedly and am enjoying life like I’ve never done before!

4. Do you feel guided in your life? Could you share with us some experiences?

Awareness sets in when I looked back and saw how my life has been transformed. Undoubtedly, there had to be a gentle guiding hand leading me all along. Despite the choices that I made earlier, still, I am being guided on the path to my life purpose. The first three months of embarking on spiritual work was tough! For many moments, I felt I had made a wrong decision in resigning from a well-paid job and embarking on another that was not yielding much in any way. But slowly and surely, the angels brought along many opportunities while my clients inspired me to conduct various workshops. All these proved very successful!

5. We understand that you are separated from your husband, would you be able to share the insights you have gained from this?

Having the courage to walk out from an abusive spouse with a child of 8 months with no money took me a lot of guts. Looking back, I have no idea what propelled me to do so but I do remember telling myself that the choice is mine to live a better life. No one could give that to me but me. I have since learnt how to forgive and love. Not to blame anyone or myself and to seek the lessons within and that we can always choose to be happy and joyful. I have learnt to be grateful for all that I have and that I can create and manifest anything that I need or desire. I have grown from being a shy lady with a low self-esteem to a confident, trusting and loving person now. Purely and simply, I have adopted a refusal to settle for less than the best life I can possibly have.

6. Were there any obstacles in preventing you from practising? How did you overcome them?

The ego was my biggest obstacle. I often doubted myself and my abilities, sometimes even believing that I was totally insane. Due to social and family conditioning, I also believed that spiritual work would not bring me financial stability. I gave readings and healings on my off-days but deep down I had a yearning to do more. I told my angels to make that possible for me. In the meantime, I attended workshops, gained knowledge from books and valuable learning experiences from friends and clients. I spent three years preparing and honing my abilities. Finally, the opportunities aroused and this time I knew and trusted that all would work out.
