Interview with Swami Keerti on Osho

We would like to thank Richard Oon who helped us connect with Swami Keerti, a direct disciple of Osho. Osho has been described by the Sunday Times in London as one of the '1000 Makers of the 20th Century' and by Sunday Mid-Day in India as one of the ten people - along with Ghandi, Nehru and Buddha - who have changed the destiny of India.

1. What are Osho's key teachings about?

Osho has no teachings. He has a vision to share with us. This vision is that we transform our life with meditation. But if you still persist about teachings, I will be saying in two words only - meditate and celebrate.

2. How was Osho like in real person?

Very real! Osho is an Enlightened Mystic and very transparent. His Being radiates his illumination. I could feel every atom of his Being vibrating with absolute consciousness and blissfulness.

3. We understand that you are a disciple of Osho. How was it like to learn under Osho?

It was more of un-learning or learning to unlearn. A journey from mind to No-Mind, the transcendental consciousness beyond the frontiers of mind. It was to enter your feeling and being. It was to be meditative and intuitive.

4. What is your role regarding Osho's work?

The role came naturally to me to share his vision in whatever way it can be shared. It has been happening through media, meditation events and seminars. I have been editing his magazines and books.

5. There seems to be some disagreement on how to spread Osho's teachings. Can you tell us your views regarding this matter?

Yes, there's a disagreement. Osho International Foundation controls and monopolises Osho and vision in the form of books and audio-video discourses. We, the Osho Friends International wish to see Osho and his vision in the free domain, available and accessible to everybody in the world without any barriers. To us Osho is a Buddha and not any commodity like Coca-Cola that can be trademarked. No Buddha and no universal teachings are for trademarks. It is our joy to share Osho without any man-made restrictions.

6. We understand that Osho is very humorous. Can you share with us something funny regarding Osho?

Osho is very humourous indeed. He is playful and mischievous. He makes fun of holy cows, and he regards all kinds of seriousness as sickness. He told more jokes than anybody on earth. All his discourses which are about 10,000 hours, are full of jokes. He used them to awaken us. He recreated Mulla Nasruddin as his favourite character for jokes.

To be Mulla Nasrudin means two things: Be foolish in your wisdom and be wise in your foolishness. It is a very great contradiction. Be wise in your foolishness and be foolish in your wisdom.
