In a world where spirituality has often been made more complicated by books which claim to help you understand God, here comes a truly simple book that achieves exactly what it says. Patrice Karst is the author of God Made Easy and also the receiver of Miracle Crosses of Light, a miraculous phenomenon where crosses of light suddenly appear in windows. In this interview, Patrice shares her amazing story with us.

1. How did the book God Made Easy come about?

I was awoken from a dream at six in the morning of 11 November 1995. My son, Elijah, was still sound asleep and I was feeling groggy. Yet there were the words, plain as day in giant bold letters right in front of my eyes, “GOD MADE EASY”. I had absolutely no idea why I was seeing this. But I remember thinking to myself, "What a great book title!" and tried to go back to sleep.

The only way that I could describe what happened next was that I was absolutely not allowed to drift off again. From deep within me came a command, "Get up and write it now!!" This did not thrill me at all. As a sleep-deprived single mom, I desperately cherished my rest. Still thank God, I reluctantly did as told, grabbed a spiral notebook and started to write.

What occurred next was a most extraordinary experience. The words began to pour out of me. There was no pausing, thinking or rewriting, just a stream of consciousness that spilled out faster than I could get it down. At exactly seven, it was done. In just one hour, I was holding in my hands a piece of writing that upon reading, gave me goose bumps (God bumps) and the voice spoke again:

"This is to be a book. It will go all over the world reaching and reintroducing all the people of this planet to the great magnificence that is God. Whether they are ten or one hundred and ten. Buddhist, Jew, Christian or no particular belief at all. This tiny book will simplify once and for all everything that we need to know about life here on Earth, Heaven, God and how to be happy. And now Patrice, your job is to get it published."

2. It is interesting that your book is very short. Is it intentional on your part to keep it really simple?

Luckily, God knows that I don't have a long attention span, and gave me a nice small book to dictate (not A Course in Miracles, thank God). Seriously though - I think in this chaotic overwhelming time in our lives - we need to keep it all as simple as possible. All the huge books with thousands of pages haven't helped us right? So yes, easier is better and God doesn't have to be so complicated.

3. It seems that you are a strong proponent that God is really simple. What are your plans to get yourself heard when so many people have made God so complicated and esoteric?

Ah, I think that part of why I was called for this particular task and for this particular version of the Great Message of Love is that I don't try to be any kind of expert. I am just another struggling soul here on Earth that has good days filled with faith and other days when just getting through the day is painful. When I allow myself to go deep again into the awareness of God - all is well.

4. What is your idea of God?

In the simplest terms, God is the Glory of all Perfection, The Holiest of Holies, The Divine Creator of this galaxy and countless others. At times God feels personal to me like my best friend, my mother and my father. At other times, God is the great Cosmic Universe Itself - the wonder of it all!

5. How do you connect to God?

There are infinite possibilities in the the ways that I connect with God as there are types of music. I think of God as the Great Ocean and we are all fish swimming through the sea of God. I connect with God when I am in nature; when I am silent during meditation or yoga; when I listen to great music; when I pray or cry to Him, Her and It; when I am eating and realizing who created the food; when I see a baby smiling or when my wiener dog COCO goes crazy with her Holy doggie licks - you get the idea. I try to realize that even the next breath I take would not come if it were not for the grace of God!
