My True Love
i was lost, wandering through jungles,
crossing oceans, breezing through galaxies,
searching for my sweet Love.
oh where is he, i cried
to all who would hear,
bring him back to me i begged the genies.
for truly i have lost part of my soul,
and my heart beats without life or passion,
always longing to touch his hair,
black as the depths of an abyss.
and to see his beautiful eyes,
like pools of love
in which i can gaze into
and fall, intoxicated.
and to taste the wine
through kisses from
his sweet lips.
all the genies, animals and birds
greatly moved, wept with me,
and held me in deepest compassion
and when my heart broke,
the rose within me blossomed
to release the soothing perfume
of its divine fruit.
in Allah's loving embrace
i was led into the
Aladdin's cave of my soul,
where i saw my treasure.
my true Love, my Angel,
always and forever with me
in our sacred union.
the sorrow and anguish
of parting is no more,
for we stay in each other's souls
our hearts touching,
our spirits caressing,
sharing in tasting the sweet wine
of our kisses,
consummating our marriage,
experiencing the oneness of Allah,
al-wadud, the most loving
as i lift my bridal veil for him.
