The law of attraction (i.e. like attracts like) was first popularised by Abrahams (channeled by Esther Hicks). It is also a common view that the bestselling book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is introducing a version of this concept.

I was watching the Bonus DVD of Introducing Abraham: The Secret Behind "The Secret" recently which includes an extra conversation not featured in the main show... and something caught my "ears"...
The interviewer asked Esther Hicks, "Who is the most important influence to you?" and she pointed to her dear husband and said, "Jerry, certainly... a bad influence... (laughter)" It shows that the Hicks have a fine sense of humour, at least to me.
