The title of this article is one of the most common questions asked of Chief Joseph and me. Why are we here? What’s my life’s purpose?

In one word, Joseph would say “Joy.” Joy is the reason we are here and it’s the purpose of our lives.

But some object, “Well, what about learning lessons, facing our fears, clearing karma, healing our blockages, etc.?” Are they not also life purposes?

Here’s Chief Joseph.

When you focus on joy, all else falls into place.

I used to wonder what I did to merit a divine calling.

I spent hours scrutinizing my internal reflection, and I didn’t particularly like what I saw:

An amazing truth occurs to those known as quantum physicists, in that nature’s invisible energy: photons, electrons and atoms move through space in waves, just the way that we would visualize a wave in the ocean. They all move that way until someone observes them. But when someone watches, the wave collapses and a particle, the smallest bit of matter, appears to pop out of nothing. Only when the electron or photon is observed does this occur. If no one is watching the wave form exists, until someone looks and then the particle exists. Physicist John Wheeler states that it is only the presence of conscious observers in the form of ourselves that have collapsed the wave function and made the universe exist. Without the observer there can be nothing. The collapse of the wave function happens to atoms, electrons and photons, the smallest building blocks of matter. Within us the wave function of atoms, electrons and photons collapses whenever we watch, observe or meditate.

Well, it’s wonderful to be here again today, to be able to use this medium, to be able to get the message out into your planet. For there are many Souls in this point of time, who are searching for a reality, who are searching for information, who are searching for some kind of resolution, perhaps to their life, that are searching for some kind of ‘thing’ to believe in, an energy to believe in, an energy to trust in. Perhaps a religious belief that they can look towards, in other words, they are searching for their life path. They are searching for – “What is the purpose of life?”

You are a total sum of all your experiences of all your learning’s, of all your decision makings, and they are all part of your Soul’s energy. For without those experiences you would not know yourself.

As I’m one quarter of the way into my seventh year of living in Egypt, it’s no surprise to anyone that I love living my life here. Life in this country has opened my eyes to view both my life and life in general in a way I’d never done prior to living here. In my youth I imagined seven years to be a long time but now it seems no longer than the blink of an eye, and I often recall the saying that time flies when you are having fun. In our childhood we are supposed to have fun but children regularly complain that things take too much time. So as kids, is everything fun?

1. How did you get the inspiration to do the book?

I started down this path in mid-2003 after I had my first personal session with a medium. The medium channeled my spirit guides, who told me that I had planned many of my greatest challenges before I was born. We then discussed why I had wanted to experience some of these challenges. This information allowed me to reframe many of the seemingly bad things that happened in my life. It was a healing experience for me, and I realized that an awareness of pre-birth planning could bring healing to others. So, I decided to write a book about it.
